Homeschool Days: Squirreling Away!
What: As summer fades to fall, and fall into winter, humans and animals alike begin to prepare for the cold weather and long nights by storing the bountiful harvest from the earlier months. While humans have refrigerators and grocery stores to make their life easier, wildlife doesn’t have quite the same luxuries. In this program for children in grades 4-8, we will look at different food-storage strategies used by squirrels in Pennsylvania by playing an outdoor winter survival game and learn different ways these animals can make it through the snowy season. Bioactive, Streamside Terrarium Build: Watch or Help!

Want to see how a bioactive terrarium is built, or lend a hand yourself? Stop by the office anytime from 9am to 2pm October 11 & 12 to lend a hand or watch the terrarium be put together! Ask questions, learn how the terrarium is going to work, and discover the plants and critters that will call it home. Contact Vinny Curtis at [email protected] with questions.
